UV, or ultraviolet water treatment, is a form of water treatment for the neutralization of bacterial contaminants. UV filtration uses ultraviolet radiation to alter the DNA of the bacteria in the water in order to render it harmless.
UV filtration is not a stand-alone form of water treatment. Sediment and turbidity present in water will reduce the effectiveness of the ultra violet treatment. An ultraviolet system requires a 5 micron pre-filter kit to remove particles PRIOR to the water traversing the UV chamber.
