Ultrafiltration water filter systems are often a more cost-effective alternative to reverse osmosis without the waste water generated by reverse osmosis. Ultrafiltration (UF) water systems uses a hollow fiber membrane technology to filter the water to a sub micron level. At this level of filtration, water, salt, and dissolved organics are allowed to pass through while bacteria, macromolecular organics, particles, and silt are prevented from passing through.
